Flooding and other weather-related events, construction projects and prescribed burns sometimes result in temporary detours or closures of trails, preserves or facilities in order to ensure public safety.
Emergency alerts, preserve and trail closure notices, construction alerts, and prescribed burn locations are provided below, and updated during normal business hours, 8:30 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday, excluding holidays. Alerts and updates are sometimes also provided on Facebook and X.
Trail and Underpass Status
Check the current status (open/closed) of preserve trails, community trail connections and trail underpasses along the Des Plaines River Trail and the Millennium Trail marked on the map below. Public access is restricted at closed trails and underpasses. Please follow preserve and trail signage, and use caution around closures, construction or detour zones.
