Inspired by periodical cicadas, Harbor Brewing Company in Lake Villa teamed up with the Forest Preserves to celebrate the cicadas’ 2024 arrival with a new beer! Brewed XIII (13) is aptly named after the brood of cicadas that emerged this summer after spending 17 years underground.

We created a limited-edition Brewed XIII t-shirt to commemorate this special brew, on tap at the Beer Garden at Independence Grove. Like the periodical cicadas, once the shirts run out—they are gone!

Yours with a minimum $25 donation, our shirts feature a custom design screen-printed on a Gildan Softstyle Jersey T-shirt, which are 100% pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton. The shirt is semi-fitted: designed as a closer fit that skims the body, chest, and arms.

100% of your donation will directly support the Forest Preserves endowment fund. This fund helps us keep restored forest preserves healthy and resilient, ensuring a protected native landscape for every periodical cicada emergence.
