An anonymous private foundation and Wintrust Financial Corporation, a financial services company founded in Lake County, have together donated $1.5 million to endow two popular forest preserves.

The Lake County Forest Preserves' Horizons magazine recently received four prestigious awards from two esteemed competitions.
At its October 9 meeting, the Lake County Forest Preserves Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of about 13.2 acres to expand Greenbelt Forest Preserve in North Chicago.
