Adlai E. Stevenson II was an influential figure in the political history of the United States, and the world. He served as Governor of Illinois from 1949-1953, ran twice for President as the Democratic National Candidate in 1952 and 1956, and served as ambassador to the United Nations from 1961-1965.
In 1953, at the height of the cold war, Stevenson was commissioned by Look Magazine to undertake a six-month, 30 nation tour to report on the social, political and economic conditions in each nation. Come join Stevenson as he meets with a young Queen Elizabeth II in England, Chiang Kai-shek in China, David Ben-Gurion in Israel, and other heads of state through never before seen photographs.
