Fort Sheridan Concept Plans
April 9, 2015 11:05 AM
Roughly 240 people attended a public open house on April 8 to learn about improvement plans for Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve and to provide feedback regarding the plans.
For anyone unable to attend, the concept plans are accessible online at www.LCFPD.org/projects, and an online forum to provide written comments will be available through April 29 on the Forest Preserve’s Idea Exchange community input website. To share feedback using Idea Exchange, registration with an email address, Facebook or Twitter account is required.
For questions about the plans or the Open House, please email Randy Seebach, Director of Planning and Land Preservation, RSeebach@LCFPD.org.
Project Background
The two concept plans are part of the development of the final master plan and the next phase in implementing a series of improvements that the Lake County Forest Preserve has undertaken since obtaining the northern 250 acres of the former military base. The Forest Preserve has restored the wooded ravines and bluffs along the Lake Michigan shoreline, constructed a paved trail for hiking and biking, installed educational outdoor exhibits, and completed military base cemetery improvements.
