The Lake County Forest Preserves received awards from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) and the AVA Digital Awards.

The IPRA Agency Showcase honors Illinois agencies for outstanding marketing and communication across print and multimedia. The AVA Digital Awards is an international competition celebrating excellence in creative work.

Horizons magazine took first place in the IPRA contest, earning praise from the judges. “I would be very pleased if I was retired opening this and visiting nature preserves in my spare time. Perfect composition! Highest score I’ve given today,” a judge remarked.

Entries that placed in the IPRA Agency Showcase:

• Brochure Series Print (Horizons): 1st
• Video: Long Form (It’s Not About Us): 2nd
• Marketing Campaign (Periodical Cicadas): 4th
• Print Communication Informational (Expand Your Experience): 4th

AVA Digital Awards:

• Long Form Video–Government (It’s Not About Us): Platinum Award
• Long Form Video–Nonprofit (It All Depends on the Acorn): Gold Award
• Commercials–PSA Campaign (Preservation, Recreation, Education): Gold Award

“Winning these awards is a testament to our safe, clean, well-maintained preserves, award-winning programs and the talented communications staff who inspire the public to enjoy all we have to offer,” said Forest Preserves President Jessica Vealitzek. “Whether through print, video or campaigns, our goal is always to educate and engage the community about the natural treasures we protect.”
