The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.
With your help, we strive to inspire Lake County citizens of all ages to connect with nature, embrace recreational opportunities, and care for our land, water, and cultural heritage.
The 200-plus miles of Lake County Forest Preserves trails provide opportunities for you and your family to exercise, relax, and spend quality time outdoors together in peaceful, natural settings. Donors can support the care of trails and preserves with gifts at any level, or adopt an acre or mile of their favorite preserve or trail.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers dedicate tens of thousands of hours in forest preserves throughout Lake County, accomplishing vital tasks. Our volunteers play a key role in operations and public safety, habitat restoration, cultural preservation and education. There are opportunities available for individuals and groups in a variety of settings—both indoors and out, all year round. The Preservation Foundation helps fund many of the resources used to support volunteers in their work.
